John Ruehle

Manager - On-Line Shops

I currently reside in Mt. Juliet Tennessee, and I have lived throughout the United States. I served in the United States Air Force as an AGE Mechanic. After serving our nation in the Air Force, I attended the University of Nevada – Reno, where I studied for my Bachelor of Science degree in Business – with a major in transportation and logistics and a minor in computer information systems.

When I was stationed in Ogden, Utah, I was intrigued by the Southern Pacific’s Salt Lake Division and the Overland Route’s connection with the Union Pacific at Ogden.  That started my journey of affection for the Salt Lake Division and modeling Southern Pacific’s passenger trains. I served for over five years as a board member of the Southern Pacific Historical and Technical Society, including being its modeling director.

I currently model Southern Pacific’s Salt Lake Division in Nevada circa 1950 - 1954, with emphasis on Southern Pacific’s Mina and Fallon branch lines.  I also love modeling historic passenger train consists. I am a huge fan of Southern Pacific and its subsidiaries’ passenger trains - especially trains that operated on the Salt Lake Division, and I presented at the SPH&TS convention in Sacramento in 2015 on modeling Southern Pacific’s Overland Route.

I look forward to serving in the Southern Pacific History Center by bringing my thirty plus years of managerial and modeling experience to the organization.
