Dr. Michael C. Andrews will host us at his home on September 18 in Yuba City, California for a fundraiser to raise money for the history center’s property purchase fund. He is inviting us so that guests can view his private model railroad, built in a 55x35 building on his property. Following the fundraiser, the professionally built railroad and all its equipment will be donated to the History Center for use as a future public exhibit when the museum opens to the public.
This O Scale (1:48) railroad is truly magnificent and you will not want to miss the last chance to see Mike’s railroad. The fundraiser will feature a fully catered tri-tip and chicken dinner complete with ceramic dishes, linen service, and a cocktail waitress. In addition, Mike Ongerth, Southern Pacific's former vice president of strategic development, assistant vice president for operations, and superintendent of the Western Division and author of the Mad Dog Chronicles will be at Mike's fundraiser on September 18, 2022 to talk about his Southern Pacific career. We are offering this event to anyone who would like to attend at $250 a plate and all proceeds will go to the property purchase fund. A hosted bar, silent auction, and tours of Mike’s railroad will be offered from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. If you cannot attend in person, we ask that you consider donating by clicking on the following link: https://www.splives.org/donate or sending a check to the History Center at PO Box 103, Rocklin, CA 95677. Donations of more than $100 will receive a thank-you gift. To register for the event, merely click on the "Register Now" box below. After registration, the History Center will provide Dr. Andrews' home address.
