Ron Swelha
Archivist
Ron became involved with the Southern Pacific Railroad History Center in its early days as a volunteer working with the archive collection as it grew to become a major repository of documents and ephemera relating to the railroad and its subsidiary companies. Ron quickly grew his interests and asked to serve the organization as a volunteer director in 2019. He has volunteered over 3,000 hours sorting, filing, and digitally cataloging over 25,000 individual items held in the SPRHC collection.
As a result of his involvement in the SPRHC, Ron became active with the Pacific Coast Chapter, R&LHS and currently serves as Chairman. He previously served as a volunteer director for the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society. Ron retired from Kaiser Permanente as custodial manager. He owns and maintains one of the largest privately-held collections of baseball cards in the United States.
